General
What areas does Ultimate Security serve?
We are based in Whitby at 1020 Dundas St E, Unit 1, and serve Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area — including Whitby, Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering, Clarington, Scarborough, North York, Toronto, and Markham.
Do you work on both residential and commercial projects?
Yes. We design and install security cameras, access control, alarms, video doorbells, intercoms, and structured cabling for single-family homes, multi-unit residences, offices, retail, warehouses, and light industrial sites.
How do I get a quote?
Call 647-922-9884, submit our online quote request, or email info@ultimatesecuritygta.com. We typically schedule a site assessment so the proposal matches your property — not a generic package.

Cameras
Can I view my cameras on my phone?
Yes. The systems we install are compatible with security apps on smartphones and tablets so you can live-view, play back recordings, and receive motion or alert notifications from anywhere with an internet connection.
What is the difference between facial detection and facial recognition?
Facial detection identifies that a face is present in the frame and can trigger alerts or smart search. Facial recognition matches faces against a watchlist or known-person database. We help you choose the right level based on privacy needs and use case.
Do you install license plate reader (LPR) cameras?
Yes. We install LPR cameras for parking lots, gated entries, and commercial driveways so plates can be captured day and night for access logs or investigations.

Access Control
What is the difference between a mag lock and an electric strike?
A magnetic lock holds a door closed with electromagnetic force and typically requires power to stay locked. An electric strike releases the latch on the door frame so the existing lockset can open when authorized. We recommend the right hardware for fire code, door type, and traffic volume.
Can card readers and keypads work together?
Absolutely. Many sites use card readers for staff and keypads for temporary PINs or secondary authentication. We can integrate both into one access control system with schedules and audit logs.

Cabling
What cable types do you terminate?
We pull and terminate Cat 5e and Cat 6 for data and PoE camera runs, plus RG6 and RG59 coaxial cable where analog or hybrid video paths are required. Every run is labelled and tested.

Installation
How long does a typical install take?
A small residential camera or doorbell job may finish in a day. Multi-camera commercial systems, access control, or full office cabling can take several days depending on cable paths, door count, and network readiness. Your proposal includes an estimated schedule.
Do you offer maintenance after installation?
Yes. We provide maintenance and repair for cameras, recorders, access hardware, alarms, and cabling — including cleaning, firmware updates, drive health checks, and expansion when you add doors or cameras.
Will my system work if the internet goes down?
Local NVR/DVR recording continues without internet. Live remote viewing and cloud features need a connection. Alarms and access control can be configured for local fail-safe or fail-secure behaviour based on your doors and code requirements.
