Questions about access control
What is the difference between a mag lock and an electric strike?
A magnetic lock holds the door closed with an electromagnet and typically unlocks when power is cut (fail-safe). An electric strike releases the latch on a mechanical lockset and can be configured fail-safe or fail-secure depending on the door and code requirements.
Can access control work with our existing doors?
Usually yes. We survey hinges, frames, glass, and locksets first, then recommend mag locks, strikes, or other hardware that fits the door without compromising fire or egress requirements.
Can we remove access for a former employee immediately?
Yes. Credential-based systems let you disable a card, fob, or PIN in the software so that person cannot open doors — no rekeying the whole building.
