PIN Access

Keypads when a code is simpler than a card

Shared workshops, amenity rooms, and contractor doors often need a code — not another fob to track. We install weather-rated and indoor keypads tied into proper access control or stand-alone lock power.

Keypads shine when many people need temporary or shared access. A Whitby warehouse side door, a condo amenity room, or a construction-phase corridor can all use PINs that you rotate without reprinting badges. Ultimate Security installs keypads as part of a managed access system so codes are not stuck in a cheap stand-alone unit nobody can reprogram later.

We mount keypads at a usable height, weatherproof exterior units, and wire them to the lock hardware and controller. During commissioning we set initial codes, document who knows which PIN, and show your admin how to expire a code when a contractor wraps up.

For higher-security doors, keypads can sit beside card readers for dual-factor entry. Elsewhere, a well-managed PIN door is often the practical middle ground between leaving a door unlocked and issuing dozens of fobs.

FAQ

Questions about entry keypads

How often should we change entry codes?

Change codes whenever a contractor finishes, a code may have been shared too widely, or as part of a regular facilities schedule. Managed systems make that change quick.

Can different people have different PINs?

On controller-based systems, yes — individual or group codes with optional schedules. Stand-alone keypads vary; we recommend the right class of hardware for how you manage users.

Are outdoor keypads durable in Ontario winters?

We specify outdoor-rated units and mount them with sealed cable entries. Extreme ice buildup can still affect any keypad, so placement under overhangs helps when possible.

Can a keypad release a parking gate?

Yes, when wired to a compatible gate operator or access relay. We design the interface as part of the install.
